The
MiWatcher II surveillance system is designed for home and
small business applications. This low cost video transmission
system combines a camera with a built-in 33.6k modem and software
installed at a remote PC to send high quality images over a telephone
line.
Some
of the main features of the MiWatcher II are:
Simply install the MiWatcher II unit in the desired location,
plug it in to a telephone line, connect the 6VDC adapter, install
the software on the remote PC and start viewing pictures. The
software runs on Win 95/98, NT and can be password protected.
An
access door on top of the unit allows onsite program changes.
Alternatively, all changes can be made from the remote PC.
Any
normally open (N.O.) switch can be connected to the alarm input.
When the alarm is triggered, the MiWatcher II automatically transmits
5 digital color images with full date and time stamp to the offsite
PC and also saves a copy of the images in the camera.
A
dedicated phone line is not necessary unless covert observation
of the site is required or the phone line must be kept free at
all times for other purposes.
The
built-in auto focus camera uses a charge coupled device (1/4"CCD,
350 pixels) with a high video resolution (JPEG 640x480 VGA,
320x240, 160x120). The Image update (refresh) rate is 2 to 10
sec per frame. An RS232 port allows it to be used as a
still camera.
The
2MB Flash Memory can store up to 120 high resolution JPEG images
depending on the resolution setting. The unit weighs 0.8 kg (1.8
lb)
It
has been used for general security surveillance by a variety of
businesses and for the monitoring of children, the elderly and
the disabled at home.
