The MiWatcher is a new and affordable remote monitoring system that allows you to monitor your home or business from anywhere using a regular telephone line. No internet access is required and no PC is needed at the remote location. Using the software provided, a user can dial into the Miwatcher from their PC and view up to 1 frame every 2 seconds depending on the resolution chosen. Images are JPEG and can be viewed at 640x480, 320x240 and 160x120 pixels.

Most home users would require the MiWatcher II which consists of a single camera with a built-in 33.6 kbps modem for transmitting color or B&W images over a telephone line.

 

Businesses requiring several cameras to provide complete monitoring are best served by the MiWatcher III which does not have a built-in camera but will allow up to six external cameras to be connected to it.

In the future, the MiWatcher I, the small hand-held device with a built-in screen shown in green above,will be available for viewing the images at the remote location instead of using a computer. It could also serve as a portable monitoring system allowing someone to view images from any place where a telephone line is available.

Both the MiWatcher I and II can be tied in to an existing security system so that the camera can be automatically activated and start sending images to the user if any suspicious activity is detected. Five digital color images with full date and time stamp are sent and are also saved in the camera. When triggered by an external sensor/alarm, it has the capability of calling or paging you.

A TV monitor can be connected directly to the MiWatcher for local monitoring and a RS232 port allows it to be used as a still camera. Power is provided by a 6VDC adapter. Since power consumption is low, 5 to 9W, remote locations with no AC power for the adapter can easily be served by a small solar system (which we can provide).

The MiWatcher system is designed for indoor use. A weatherproof enclosure is required if the camera has to be placed outdoors. The operating temperature range is 0 C to 40 C. The non-operating range is -40 C to 70 C. There is a 1 year parts and labour warranty.
